Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP)

Also known as the ‘vampire facial’ and platelet-rich plasma therapy, PRP is an innovative, natural way to enhance the skin’s appearance using plasma found within your own blood.

A natural solution for skin

with Brighton Beautiful

PRP treatment involves rejuvenating the skin and creating a natural glow for both skin and hair through the power of your own blood plasma. As well as this, it can even skin tone, minimise lines and wrinkles and create more youthful-looking skin. Finally, PRP can be used to treat hair loss in men and women.

During treatment, a small amount of blood is extracted, with the plasma separated in a spinning centrifuge machine. These contain the nutrients needed to boost healing, and are injected into the targeted areas to boost tissue healing and collagen production.

Your questions answered

All about PRP treatment

  • Does PRP treatment hurt?

An anaesthetic can be applied to the skin to numb it ahead of treatment and keep pain and discomfort to a minimum.

  • What can I expect from my results?

Most patients enjoy results for between 12-18 months, however a 3-6 month maintenance programme will help ensure your results last longer.

  • Are there any risks?

PRP uses your blood’s natural plasma, so there’s minimal risk of allergies or reactions. It’s considered completely safe and is even used in other areas of medicine. However, some swelling, redness and bruising is typical following any type of injection.

  • Is there anything I should avoid?

We always provide our patients with detailed aftercare advice, which helps ensure the best possible results and overall experience. Some things to avoid immediately after PRP include heat treatments (such as the spa), intensive exercise and alcohol.

  • What other treatments could I try?

Dermapen and The Perfect Peel are both types of regenerative treatment that could be recommended for brighter, healthier-looking skin. As part of your consultation, Jackie will talk through appropriate treatments, so you can make an informed choice.
